Season finale
A season finale is the final episode of a season of a television program.
Frequently a season finale will contain cliffhangers to be resolved in the next season (Star Trek: The Next Generation usually did this, and the finale of the first season of Twin Peaks is an extreme example). Other times a season finale will wrap up the season's open-ended storylines and bring them to a close.
The final season finale of a television series is known as the "series finale" and often concludes the entire premise of the show.
