Semiha Berksoy
Semiha Berksoy (1910 – August 15, 2004) was one of the first Turkish opera singers, the prima donna of the Turkish opera and an internationally acclaimed artist.
Berksoy started her career in 1934 performing in Turkey, Germany and Portugal. The alto soprano sang in the Robert Wilson's opera The Days Before: Death, Destruction and Detroit III at the Lincoln Center in New York City in 1999.
Born in Istanbul, she also died there at the age of 94 due to complications related with heart surgery. She is survived by a daughter.
