Seminaarinmäen mieslaulajat
Seminaarinmäen mieslaulajat aka Semmarit is a male choir from Jyväskylä, Finland. The group does not perform traditional male choir music. They deliberately break the boundaries of choral music, so it is difficult to place their music in a specific genre. It is however strongly influenced by rock and roll and pop music. All songs are composed in co-operation between the choir members. The songs don't usually have instrumental accompaniment, in some songs instrument are used for special effects.
The choir consists of regular working men, singing non-professionally in the choir. Therefore the choir doesn't perform very often. Most concerts take place on an annual tour. Seminaarinmäen mieslaulajat has toured in Finland, Germany and the United States. The choir consists of 21 singers and conductor Reima Viitala.
