- A large international hotel chain which uses the name Shangri-La Hotel
- Shangri-La County , in Yunnan province, China
- Shangri-La city, capital of the like-named county, in Yunnan province, China
- An aircraft carrier of World War II was named USS Shangri-La.
- Written Shangri-la, the word also means a haven or hideaway; compare Brigadoon
- The Camp David retreat's original name was Shangri-La when it was established by President Franklin Roosevelt. Only during the Eisenhower Administration did it acquire its now-familiar name.
