Shibata Katsutoyo
Shibata Katsutoyo (柴田 勝豊; 1556 – June 6, 1583) was a military commander in Azuchi-Momoyama period.
Shibata Katsuie was an uncle, and Katsutoyo became adoted.
The meeting in Kiyosu Castle was held after Oda Nobunaga died. As the result of that, Katsuie got Nagahama Castle at Omi Province and let Katsutoyo defense it. However, Katsuie favored other adopted son, Shibata Katsumasa , and disfavored Katutoyo. In addition, Katsutoyo was on bad terms with Sakuma Morimasa. Because of that, he changed sides to Hashiba Hideyoshi. He sent retainers as his proxies to the Battle of Shizugatake in 1583 since he was ill. Kastutoyo died from a disease soon after the battle.
