Shizuka Kawai

Shizuka Kawai (川井 静香 Kawai Shizuka), known in the English anime as Serenity Wheeler, is a character in the manga Yu-Gi-Oh!, and both Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series. In the first series anime, she is Shizuka Jonouchi (城之内静香 Jōnouchi Shizuka).

In the manga and the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (known internationally as Yu-Gi-Oh!), she goes blind. Her brother Katsuya Jonouchi (Joey Wheeler), enters the Duelist Kingdom Tourament in order to gain the prize of three million dollars. Yugi Mutou (Yugi Moto) wins the tournament and gives Jonouchi the money to finance Shizuka's eye surgery.

Because of divorce, Shizuka and Jonouchi were separated at a young age. Their father took Jonouchi and their mother took Shizuka.

In Toei's Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, which was not released outside of Japan, Shizuka is simply ill, and Dr. Kekeru Goyu, who is supposed to be caring for her, is slacking off, causing Nurse Miyuki Sakurai to get angry at him. After he fires Miyuki for hitting him, Dark Yugi (Yami Yugi) defeats Dr. Goyu in a shadow game.
