Short twentieth century
The Short Twentieth Century is a term used by some historians to denote the period 1914—1989, it being their thesis that World War I and the fall of the Soviet Empire (Soviet Union together with the governments which it backed) represented such significant changes in world history as to redefine the era.
Created in analogy to other era names felt to overlap specific time periods.
