Shushenskoye

Shushenskoye (Шу́шенское) is a village in Siberia, Russia, at the South of Krasnoyarsk Krai, at the confluence of Yenisei and Shush .  Vladimir Lenin was in exile here from 1897 to 1900.  In 1970, a museum dedicated to Lenin's time in Siberia was opened.  Presently, this museum is one of local sighs. Many visitors from all Russia and abroad come there to see the history of Lenin's staing and (what is more popular) to see the peasant way of life during 18th century. The other sight of this land is its nature reserve. This forests are very unique in Russia. During 2003 and 2004 new festival was started in Shushenskoye. This is a festival of ethnik music called Sayan Ring (www.sayanring.com). Many people come here from all Russia and abroad. Different ethnomusic styles are played during 3-4 days. The population of the Shushenskoye is approximately 30000 people. The climate is very warm in summer (so that local people cultivate melons and water-melons), and very cold in winter (up to -40 in Celsius).
