Sidney Crosby
Sidney Crosby (born August 7 1987, in Nova Scotia, Canada) is an amateur Ice Hockey player in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). His current position is center. He is a hockey prodigy that Wayne Gretzky predicts might one day break his NHL scoring records. Sidney Crosby is eligible for the NHL draft in 2005. He was however, drafted first overall by the Toronto Toros of the New World Hockey Association in 2004.
He was drafted 1st overall in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Draft on June 7th, 2003 by the Rimouski Oceanic . Crosby won the scoring title and set a new scoring record for 16-year-olds in his rookie season in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League. He achieved 54 goals and 81 assists.
He is best known for scoring a lacrosse-style goal that was first performed by Mike Legg in 1997 against Minnesota goalie, Steve Debus .

- At age 2 1/2 he would play in the basement of their home, which his father had painted white and added red and blue lines
- At age 3 Sidney started skating on ice
- At age 7 Sidney gave his first newspaper interview and was already on the radar of the sports press
- Wayne Gretzky told a reporter from The Arizona Republic, in answer to a question if a player may some day break some of his records: "Yes, Sidney Crosby. He's the best player I've seen since Mario Lemieux."
- On December 28, 2003 Crosby scored his first goal of the world junior hockey championship in a 7-2 win over Switzerland, becoming the youngest player ever to score for the team at age 16 years, 4 months, 24 days. The puck from Sidney's record making goal is in the Hockey Hall of Fame
- Whilst having great success at the hockey level, Crosby still manages to maintain an 85 per cent average as a Grade 11 student.
