Battle of Lwów

During its long and complicated history, the city of Lwów (Lviv, Leopolis, Lemberg) was the site of several major battles and sieges. Among the most notable were:
- Battle of Lwów (1649) - Lwów besieged by forces of Bohdan Chmielnicki
- Battle of Lwów (1655) - Lwów besieged by the forces of Sweden during The Deluge
- Battle of Lwów (1672) - Lwów besieged by the armies of sultan Mehmet IV
- Battle of Lwów (1675) - Turkish armies defeated by Hussars under John III Sobieski
- Battle of Lwów (1704) - Lwów captured and looted by Sweden during the Great Northern War
- Battle of Lemberg (1914) - Lemberg captured by Russia at the outbreak of World War I
- Battle of Lemberg (1915) - Lvov recaptured by Austria-Hungary
- Battle of Lwów (1918) - City fights between the local Polish inhabitants and the forces of Western Ukrainian Republic
- Battle of Lwów (1920) - Fights of several weeks' duration at the outskirts of the city between the Polish Army and the Red Army during the Polish-Bolshevik War
- Battle of Lwów (1939) - Lwów besieged by Germany during the Polish Defence War of 1939 at the outbreak of World War II; capitulated to the Soviet Union
- Battle of Lwów (1944) - Also known as the Lwów Uprising, the city captured by the Armia Krajowa and the Soviet Union during World War II
