Silchester
Silchester is a village and civil parish in the English county of Hampshire. It is best known for the adjacent archeological site of Silchester Roman Town or Calleva Atrebatum.
Location
Silchester is located ten miles south-west of the large town of Reading, and five miles north of Basingstoke.

Local Government
Silchester is a civil parish with an elected parish council. Silchester parish falls within the the area of Basingstoke and Deane District Council and of Hampshire County Council and all three councils are responsible for different aspects of local government.
