Singapore Special Operations Force

The Singapore Special Operations Force (SOF) is part of the Singapore Army's Commandos arm. It is a highly-trained elite force, with specialised training with US Delta Force, Rangers, US Navy SEALs, etc. They also practise free-falling in all terrains and weather conditions.

Made up of an unspecified number, the identity of active SOF personnel are classified. The most prominent SOF personnel(due to high profile appointments after his active SOF service)is Colonel Lo Yong Po . Often spotted bearing US Navy Seal and countless badges and service medals.

Non-active former SOF personnel can be spotted sometimes with a "SPECIAL FORCES" tab on the right sleeve of a combat uniform, or a smaller semi-circle badge on ceremonial unifrom, though most prefer to be discreet and choose not to wear the tabs.

Successful operations include the 1991 rescue of Singapore Airlines Flight 117 at Singapore Changi Airport. It was the first time SOF was revealed to the public. Four hijackers were killed, with no casualties on the SOF or passengers. Other operations may include classified missions of covert reconnaissance.

Singapore SOF are trained in jungle-warfare, reconnaissance and counter-terrorism. They are deployable by land, air and sea. Specialising in free-falling, diving and long-range land insertion.

Weapons used include the MP5 sub-machinegun, M-4 carbine, and a wide variety of classified weapons.
