Single wire earth return
Single wire earth return (SWER) is a method of supplying single phase power to remote areas with low installation costs. The system uses a single conductor which, at each termination point, is passed through an isolation transformer with the other side of the primary winding connected to an earth pin, where the circuit is completed through the ground.
SWER is an example of a phantom loop.
