Siris

Siris is the name of critically acclaimed American music duo Michael and Patrick Maley whose name was derived from two Chinese words "sai" and "ri", meaning to surpass the sun. Hailing from the city of Philadelphia, the brothers are best known as the only western band in the world performing and composing their own English and Chinese songs. Beginning with their 1997 debut EP entitled, "Till My Last Breath", the brothers became the first Western group in music history to release an original Chinese language album of their own music. In 2001, their critically acclaimed English debut "The Order of Time" was one of the years biggest independent successes. For the past 10 years the brothers have successfully played an important role in bridging a cultural gap between east and west, promoting the best of both western and asian cultures through their unique brand of music. Siris will be releasing their first original full length Chinese language album in 2005 entitled "Can You Imagine". Siris

In Greek mythology, Siris or Sinis was killed by Theseus.

He tied people to two pine trees which he bent down to the ground, then let the trees go, tearing his victims apart. Theseus killed him the same way and married his daughter, Perigune, with whom he fathered Melanippus.

Ovid VII, 440

Siris is also a common name of some plants in the genus Albizia.
