Skank (band)
Skank is a Brazilian pop/reggae/ska band. The band was born in 1991, in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. The band's formation is, since the beginning of the success and without alterations:
- Samuel Rosa , vocalist, composer and guitars
- Lelo Zanetti , bass, vocals
- Henrique Portugal , keyboards, vocals
- Lelo Zanetti , drums
The band made a relatively huge success with its first album, Skank, in 1993, in the underground circuit. Some months later, with a contract with Sony in their hands, they finally oficially released the album, which sold 150.000 records.
So far, the band released other 6 albums:
- Calango (1994, 1.200.000 copies sold)
- Samba Poconé (1997, 1.800.000 copies sold)
- Siderado (1998, 750.000 copies sold)
- Maquinarama (2000, 250.000 copies sold)
- Ao Vivo MTV (2001, 500.000 copies sold)
- Cosmotron (2003, 180.000 copies sold)
Skank is one of the most famous bands in Brazil. As of 2004, they have sold aproximately 5.000.000 copies of their albums.
