Slappy Squirrel (voiced by Sherri Stoner ) is a character on the Warner Brothers cartoon show Animaniacs. She was first seen in episode 3 in the cartoon titled Slappy Goes Walnuts , which originally aired September 15, 1993. She is a gray squirrel and usually is wearing a green hat decorated with a drooping yellow flower. She also always carries a pink purse and a green umbrella with her that she occasionally uses to hit other characters with.

She was once a major cartoon star during animation's Golden Age back in the 1930s and 1940s (according to the plots, that is. The Slappy character was never actually seen before Animaniacs premiered). She is now a bitter, cranky old woman and lives in a tree with her nephew, Skippy Squirrel, who loves to hear her tell stories about her days of stardom. Skippy usually accompanies her on her adventures; his optimism and naïveté sometimes irritate Slappy, but she still shows a genuine affection for him.

Her former co-star and cinematic arch-enemy Walter Wolf harbors a grudge against Slappy, both for repeatedly defeating him (violently) on film and for becoming a big star, albeit now a faded one. He has also enlisted the help of her other ex-nemeses, including Sid the Squid and Beanie the Brain-Dead Bison. All of these characters, much like Slappy, are showing signs of advanced age and senility.

In addition to Walter's occasional attempts at revenge, Slappy must occasionally endure more mundane annoyances such as a cloyingly perky new neighbor or the emotional trauma Skippy endures after watching Bumbie, a thinly-veiled version of Bambi. She's also blown film critics to bits for giving poor reviews to her cartoons and (inexplicably) humbled an arrogant Daniel Boone.

Slappy easily outsmarts whatever foes she faces (who are almost universally dimwitted in addition to being decrepit), exacting revenge with exaggerated cartoon violence and usually reminiscing about "classic" (but fictional) film appearances of her youth. Her catchphrase "Now that’s comedy!", was usually delivered after visiting grave physical injury and humiliation upon her opponents.
