Soft water
Soft water is water which has a relatively low concentration of minerals—particularly calcium and magnesium—dissolved in it.
It is said that soft water increases the effectiveness of soaps and detergents, however there is some question regarding its drinkability. Brewing the pilsener style of beer requires very soft water.
