Southpark Village
An estate of private houses built during the mid 1990s, appealing mostly to the lower-income middle class of Glasgow, Scotland. It is an example of how larger cities in the UK are sarting to push into even more rural land, as it is bordered by a natural park, and a large farm.
Most of the residents would consider themselves middle class, but will almost certainly have working class roots. The area is relatively crime free. Frequently tended lawns and some lovingly polished cars lend the area a constantly fresh look.
The estate's history is interesting, even to the casual observer: The entire area was once owned by Lord Darnley, who ran linen works in the area. In later years the surrounding area was successfully and exhaustively tunneled for coal; This culminated, during the late stages of the mine's life, in a catastrophic explosion killing many local miners. The effects of this were felt as recently as the late 90s when a mine shaft collapsed in an area near the estate (but not near enough to be a danger), leading to a massive land fill operation which successfully prevented the land around the shaft from collapsing any further.
