Southwest National Park
Southwest is a national park in Tasmania (Australia), 93 km west of Hobart.
It covers and area of over 6,000 km² and is part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Hertitage area.
The park is well known and its pristine wilderness and remoteness. The core of the park was created in the late 1960's as compensation for the flooding of Lake Pedder.
Within the area there is only one road, to the Hydro-electricity township of Strathgordon and one small air strip at Melaluca .
