Spam
Spam typically refers to any of the following:
- SPAM - a brand of canned meat sold by Hormel
- Spam (Monty Python), a comedy sketch involving this meat, which in turn gave rise to the phrase:
- Spam (electronic) - unsolicited bulk electronic messages, such as e-mail spam.
- Pointless, subjectless posting on a bulletin board forum.
Other uses of the term include:
- A character from the Tolkien parody Bored of the Rings.
- Any of a number of fanzines and magazines of the same name such as Spam magazine, published in the mid-1990s in Houghton, Michigan.
This word has been voted by a British translation company in June 2004 as one of the ten English words that are hardest to translate.
