Spectral reflectance
Spectral reflectance curves are generated by spectrophotometers. The resulting plots demonstrate reflectance energies every 10 nanometers in the visible (400nm-700nm) wavelength regions of the electromagnetic spectrum .
By analyzing the differences in the curves of your color samples you can tell how well 2 color samples will match under differing light sources, etc.
This is a main branch of colorimetry.
