Squamous
Squamous means covered with or formed of scales; scaly.
Squamous can also mean 'thin and flat' like a scale. This is often used to describe the shape of a cell, e.g. squamous epithelial cells. Squamous cells are thin and irregularly shaped types of cells often found where irritation or trauma occurs.
