Squarez

Squarez is a computer puzzle game from Eric Burgess, created in 2004 and distributed as Freeware. The name of the game is very similar to the commercial classics Squarez Deluxe, but the gameplay is totally different. The main gameplay follows the classic 'element matching and removing' scheme (used in other famous games, like SameGame or Bejeweled).

Game rules

The gaming field is an 8x8 grid, filled randomly with 3 type of different elements. Four elements are matched, if they are of the same type and can represent a square, no matter of size and orientation. Selected elements are removed, and the empty places are filled with the elements from above. The scoring depends of the size of the square (the bigger square means more poins) and the orientation (horizontal, diagonal or skewed). Each level should be completed in some time, and higher level means shorter periods.
