Squee

Squee was a fictional character in Jhonen Vasquez's comic book Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, who later received his own four-issue series, both of which were published by Slave Labor Graphics. Squee is a small child who lives next door to Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, and is one of the only recurring characters in that series to have met Johnny and survived such as Devi, thanks to Squee's overabundant cuteness and rapidly-deteriorating innocence. His real name is Todd—the nickname "Squee" comes from the sound he makes when he is frightened, which is quite often within his world.

Besides Johnny, who is both his friend and worst nightmare, he has few people in his world.

His Mother, who is usually self-medicated. She's never quite aware of Squee's existance, nor does she wish to be. Her face is never shown.

His Father, who loaths poor Squee with every fiber of his being. He has absolutely no qualms about telling little Squee this, and often does so. Repeatedly. You sort of see his face, but more often than not his glasses shine so his eyes are unseeable, or his face is in shadow.

Pepito, The Antichrist. He likes Squee because Squee knows that what he says is true. He attempts to get him to join the darkness and be his friend. Squee refuses, but not unlike Johnny, Pepito continues to be his friend and tormentor.

Squee goes to school where he is bullied and has no friends. In one episode, his classmates are shown as zombies, and you see what looks like Ms.Bitters from another of Jhonen Vaqsquezs work, Invader Zim.

Squee carries around with him an abused bear by the name of "Shmee", who appears to be a less developed or influential version of Johnny's voices. Shmee claims to be a "trauma sponge" which protects Squee, although there is a darker aspect to him. Shmee often tells Squee to do evil or horrible things to people, similar to Johnny's Doughboys, but unlike Johnny Squee ignores these instructions, most likely due to his overwhelming innocence and lack of anger or bitterness towards his world, which is most unpleasant.

In the course of the comic, Squee gets abducted by aliens, ignored, forced into dinner with Lucifer and the Antichrist, gets attacked by his zombie classmates (saved by aforementioned Antichrist), scared by wrongful dookie-ing, and attacked by dust mites.

The comic ends with his forced entry to a Insane Asylum, in wich we see Johnny once more. It is the belief of most fans that Johnny saves Squee once more, however the creator, when asked abouit this, merely began to cackle.

"Squee" can also be an exclamation, or interjection, of excited happiness or surprise, especially when referring to fangirls, or be a squeal of glee over something incredibly cute.
