Steve Hale

Steve Hale was a character on the TV sitcom Full House played by Scott Weinger.

Steve Hale is not supposed to be the same Steve that D.J. goes with once in mid-season 5, as the last name is different, and numerous times it’s indicated that they met on D.J.’s trip to Spain over the summer between seasons 5 and 6. (Using the same name isn’t unusual for Full House, as Kirk Cameron, Candace Cameron's brother, played a cousin named Steve way back in season 1.) Steve is a caring, compassionate young man who voluntarily offered not to ever see D.J. again because their relationship was coming between D.J. and Danny early in season 6. Later in that episode, Danny allowed D.J. to continue to see Steve as long as she started setting her priorities right and fulfilling her school and family obligations first.

Steve remained an important part of D.J.’s and the Tanner’s lives, and they truly liked each other, though Danny was leery of them getting too close, as most protective fathers would be. Steve was a senior in high school in season 6, and escorted D.J. to his prom. He then went to a community college in the area, though we don’t know where, and moved into his own apartment, though it appears he later moved back home. His main interest was eating, partly because he was a typical teenage boy, partly because he expended lots of energy as a member of the wrestling team.

Steve and D.J. split up near the end of season 7, as they discovered their relationship wasn’t as deep as they thought. However, he returns at the end of season 8 to take D.J. to her prom, and from the fact they missed each other and embraced so warmly so quickly when he did show up, viewers often imagine that they began a deeper, more meaningful relationship afterward.
