Steve Ralston

Steve Ralston (born June 14, 1974 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American soccer player, who currently plays right midfield and right defense in Major League Soccer for the New England Revolution.

Ralston was drafted 18th overall in the 1996 MLS College Draft by the Tampa Bay Mutiny out of Florida International University, and proceeded to become the first MLS player to win the Rookie of the Year Award. Ralston played for the Mutiny for six years, leaving only after the team was contracted in 2002 to join the New England Revolution. He was Tampa Bay's all-time leader in games played (177) and points (130). In his first year with the Revolution, Ralston led the league in assists with 19. He is currently the all-time MLS leader in games and minutes played. In nine years in the league, he scored 50 goals and 96 assists in 260 regular season games, and added three goals and five assists in 23 playoff games. Amazingly, in all these matches, Ralston did not start only twice.

Despite an excellent MLS career, Ralston has seen little time with the United States national team, having registered only 17 caps and two goals. His first cap came on January 17, 1997 against Peru.
