Street Sounds

Street Sounds has for the last twelve years, been committed to performing music alive with celebration, protest, sweet blues, driving rhythms and soul. Entertaining and inspiring, a Street Sounds’ concert is a feast for the mind and the soul that transcends ethnic boundaries. Five glorious and powerful voices celebrate, uplift, protest, motivate and honor their ancestors in concerts brimming with hope and affirmation. “Pure Magic!” The group has carried their sound to many stages, with international touring experience that includes performances in Holland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Korea, Belgium and France, and coast-to-coast in the United States.

Honoring the voice as the first instrument and the breath as the first and last sound we make as human beings, Street Sounds uses their precious and powerful voices to celebrate, uplift, bring news, protest, motivate and honor ancestors. Their performance is a musically rich smorgasbord creating a tapestry of blues, jazz, African chants, rap, R&B, doo-wop and civil/human rights songs.

Street sounds has appeared with and along side renowned artists and groups such as Manhattan Transfer, Wynton Marsalis, Zapp Mama, Robert Cray, Joan Armatrading, John Handy , Linda Hopkins, Chick Corea, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Cassandra Wilson, Pete Seeger and Chic Street Man.
