Stuff

For the magazine, see Stuff magazine. For the substance which is often placed in the cavities of food items, see stuffing. "Stuff" is also the name of a line of clothing connected with singer/actress Hilary Duff, and the brand name of a New Zealand news web portal owned by John Fairfax Holdings, available at www.stuff.co.nz. There was also a book and a movie called The Right Stuff, the pop group New Kids On The Block had a hit song "You Got It (The Right Stuff)", and "Weird Al" Yankovic parodied it with "The White Stuff".

Stuff is any collection of materials, substances or any such things. In conversation 'stuff' is often used in place of the correct noun if the meaning is obvious from the context: 'You got the stuff?' For example "white stuff" may mean heroin, cocaine, sperm, middle of an Oreo, etc. Together with 'shit' it is frequently employed as a euphemism when the speaker may not want to explicitly specify what they mean; for example illicit substances.

It may also refer to a collection of activities, or the process of placing things in a hole, tube, container, crevasse, or similar location, particularly if the stuff is packed tightly and fills or obstructs the hole, passage, or container.

Various forms of stuff are used for different purposes, and have varying degrees of uselessness. Most astronomers believe that stuff, or matter, originated approximately 13.7 billion years ago in a Big Bang. There are approximately 3 * 1052 kilograms of stuff in the observable universe.
