Sudetendeutsches Freikorps
Terrorist organisation in Czechoslovakia and Germany between 1938 and 1939 with ultranationalistic, racist and pro-nazi opinions. Its members came from Czechoslovakia's German-speaking minority; the aim of Freikorps was to set Czechoslovakia under rule of Hitlers's Nazi Germany. Headquarters and weapons and terrorist training was given them in Nazi Germany, before they were send to Czechoslovakia. Between March 1938 and March 1939, Freikorps terrorists realised about thousand actions against anti-Nazi Germans, Czechs and Jews. More than 2000 people were kidnapped from Czechoslovakia to Nazi Germany. 262 policemen and soldiers were murdered by Freikorps, other 315 people were wounded. After occupation of Czechoslovakia by Germany, Freikorps ended its criminal actions. Few of its members were sentenced to death after the WWII.
- Example: Typical case of Freikorps terrorism is small village of Habersbirk in border mountains. In September 1938, group of Freikorps members tryed to occupy the village. Firstly, they set telephone connection out of work. There were 3 policemen residing in village. First policeman was on ordinary patrol in one part of village; he was assaulted by Freikorps members and drastically beaten unto death. Than, his body was triumphally drown through the village to intimidate village people. Other two policemen were assaulted in police station. In long battle, they shot few Freikorps members, but superiority of Freikorps killed them, too. The wife of one of policemen, her mother and local post officer were tortured. But, after few hours, there were no ordinary telephone contact between police station and Regional police directory. So the Regional police
commander send group of policemen to Habersbirk. As their cars went to village, heavy shooting and battle with Freikorps terrorists started. Few policemen were killed and wounded, few Freikorps terrorists arrested, other fled through the borders back to Germany.
