Sue Records

Sue Records was founded in 1957 by Henry Jones in New York.

The label's first success came with Bob Hendricks and Dave Covay . The success continued in the sixties with Ike and Tina Turner.

Jones initially released his records in the UK through Decca Records but switched to a licensing deal with Island Records afterwards. This deal resulted in a split in the ownership of the name... Soon Island used the label to distribute soul and blues acts as James Brown and BB King. Jones retained the US rights of the label, but failed to chart. In 1968 he sold the Sue masters to United Artists Records.

He retained the rights of the record label and tried several times (unsuccesfully) to reactivate the label.
