Sultana (ship)

There have been multiple ships called The Sultana :

  • A Royal Navy schooner named HMS Sultana patrolled the American coast from 1768 — 1772.
  • A reconstruction of the 1768 schooner was launched in March 2001.
  • In 1840, the Sultana was the first ship from the Sultanate of Oman to visit the new world, arriving in New York and bearing the personal greetings and the representative of Sultan Sayyid Said ibn Sultan to trade with the USA.
  • In 1843, a ship named Sultana transported Irish immigrants from Liverpool, England to New York, NY.
  • Sultana was a steamboat that exploded and sank killing 1,700 people.
