Super Bowl XLIII

Super Bowl XLIII will be the 43rd Super Bowl, the annual championship of the NFL between the National Football Conference and American Football Conference champions. The game will be played on February 1, 2009.

On April 18, 2005, the NFL announced the game will be televised on NBC.

On December 9, 2004 at an NFL owners meeting, the owners announced four possible candidates for the Super Bowl. The four are Atlanta, Georgia, Miami, Florida, Tampa, Florida, and Houston, Texas.

All of these candidates have, and will, have Super Bowls in this decade, since Atlanta was host to Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000, Tampa Bay for Super Bowl XXXV in 2001, Houston for Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004, and Miami will be host to the Super Bowl XLI in 2007.

An announcement for the chosen candidates is expected to come around May 2005.
