Timex Sinclair 1000

(Redirected from TS1000)

The Timex Sinclair 1000 (TS1000) was the result of a joint effort between British company Sinclair Research and Timex Corporation in an effort to gain an entry into the rapidly-growing early 1980s home computer market in the United States.

The TS1000, launched in July 1982, was the first machine resulting from the cooperation. It was a slightly modified Sinclair ZX81 with an NTSC RF modulator instead of a UK PAL device and the onboard RAM doubled to two kilobytes. The TS1000's casing had slightly more internal shielding but remained the same as Sinclair's, including the much-reviled membrane keyboard. It was followed by an improved version, the Timex Sinclair 1500.

Later, Timex developed two enhanced versions of the ZX Spectrum for the U.S. market, the TS2048 and TS2068.
