TV Land
TV Land is an American cable television network which first started transmissions on April 29, 1996. It is owned by Viacom, who also owns channels like Nickelodeon and Noggin. TV Land is in turn a spinoff of Nickelodeon's Nick at Nite.
The purpose of TV Land is to rerun classic television shows from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. More recently, however, shows from the 1980s have been aired, like Cheers and MacGyver.
Another interesting aspect of the channel, although it has tapered off in recent years, is that it airs a select batch of old retro advertisements, coined as TV Land Retromercials.
For the 2004 election, public service announcements from past elections were aired. One famous ad, for Lyndon Johnson, shows a girl picking a daisy. The image segues into a countdown, and a nuclear bomb blast.
