Taichi "Tai" Kamiya, known in Japan as Taichi Yagami (八神 太一 Yagami Taichi), is a fictional character from the first two seasons of the anime and manga Digimon & the manga Digimon V-Tamer.

He is characterized as an adventurous character that wears a set of goggles, a characteristic that is shared among the main characters in the various Digimon series. The goggles also act as an symbol of leadership, and Tai is the leader of the Digidestined (Chosen Children in the Japanese version) in Digimon Adventure and the leader of the senior group in Digimon Zero Two. He is the older brother to Hikari Yagami (AKA Hikari Kamiya).

As a leader, he often acts first without realizing the consequences of his actions. This has led him to moments of friction and guilt between his best friend Yamato Ishida, his love interest Sora Takenouchi, as well as his Digimon partner Agumon. However, he manages to do whatever is necessary to rectify the situation, and in times of need, save friends and family from certain doom. He was the bearer of the Crest of Courage.

The V-Tamer version is more of a planner & has a partner in Zeromaru (a Veedramon).

During May of 2000, Taichi arrived the the Digital World & gave up his Crest-power to free the Sovereigns. As a result, Agumon lost the ability to become Metal Greymon and War Greymon.

Taichi had really grown emotionally in these three years. He's much calmer and less likely to act without thinking. Seemingly with a lot of free time on his hands, he often helps out the younger kids in their quest. When he's not going to the Digital World, he's still playing soccer.

V-Tamer

Taichi was a boy whose V-Pet had a Digimon thought to be a glitch. But when he was transported he learned that 'glitch' was his partner, Zeromaru. He met Lord Magna Angemon, who brought him to the Digital World to help them fight Daemon. Taichi agreed & with Gabo as a tour guide to find the five V-Tags. He faced the likes of Etemonkey, the evil Digimon that guard the V-Tags. He even fought other humans, like Neo Saiba , who eventually helped him out. After he and Zeromaru defeated Daemon, Taichi and the other kids returned to the real world.
