Tarrytown is a village located in Montgomery County, Georgia. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 100.

Geography

Tarrytown is located at 32°19'9" North, 82°33'34" West (32.319181, -82.559323).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.3 km² (0.9 mi²), none of which is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 100 people in the village, organized into 40 households, and 26 families. The population density is 44.4/km² (115.6/mi²). There are 51 housing units at an average density of 22.6/km² (59.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 76% White, 23% African American, and 1% Native American. There are no Asians or Pacific Islanders and no one identified as a member of other races or of two or more races. None of the population is Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 40 households out of which 30.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 40.0% are married couples living together, 17.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.0% are non-families. 30.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.50 and the average family size is 3.19.

In the village the population is spread out with 32.0% under the age of 18, 11.0% from 18 to 24, 20.0% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 12.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 96.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 78.9 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $21,667, and the median income for a family is $31,250. Males have a median income of $23,750 versus $13,750 for females. The per capita income for the village is $8,637. 41.6% of the population and 31.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 64.9% of those under the age of 18 and 50.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
