Terence Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, 2nd Marquess of Dufferin and Ava
Terence John Temple Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, 2nd Marquess of Dufferin and Ava (16 March 1866–7 February 1918) was a British diplomat and the second son of the 1st Marquess of Dufferin and Ava and his wife, the former Harriet Rowan-Hamilton. As a younger son, he was not expected to inherit the Marquessate, but on the death of his brother, Lord Ava , in 1900, he became Heir Apparent to his father and assumed the courtesy title Earl of Ava, only holding it for a year before the death of his father in 1901.
He married the American Florence Davis in 1893, and had three daughters, Doris, Ursula and Patricia, but no sons, and so on his death the peerage passed to his brother, Frederick . Two years after his death his wife married again, to the 4th Earl Howe .
