Thalheim an der Thur
Thalheim an der Thur is a city in in the Anderfingen district in the canton of Zürich, Switzerland.
Geography
The municipality belongs to Gütighausen . It is situated south of the Thur. In 1862, the first bridge was built over the Thur. 14 years later, it was ruined by the flood and was rebuilt three years later. In 1875, the railway line of Winterthur-Etzwilen-Singen was opened bringing the connection with the outside world.
History
The village name Thalheim an der Thur (the place does not lie near the Thur at all) was originally called Dorlikon. The name originated from the Alamanni named Torilo which was based in the 7th century. The name was sounded too strongly. the advice from the canton granted a name change to Thalheim an der Thur in 1878, but the original name in the area is still used (see link below)
