The Dagger of Amon Ra
Laura Bow 2: The Dagger of Amon Ra (usually just called The Dagger of Amon Ra) is a computer game published by Sierra On-Line. The game is the second and final installment in the Laura Bow Mysteries line of adventure games, the first having been The Colonel's Bequest. The game is set in a museum circa the 1920s, and features a strong Egyptian motif. The protagonist, Laura Bow (a pun on Clara Bow), is a Southern belle who has, at the start of The Dagger of Amon Ra, just moved to New York City and landed a job at a prestigious newspaper. For her first assignment, she is assigned a puff piece on a party in a major museum, but when a murder occurs, she is locked inside with all of the other suspects, who start dying one by one; she must solve the numerous crimes occurring before the culprits escape or (more likely) kill her. The Laura Bow games were distinctive in that they required some actual logistical detective work on the part of the player, although for the most part the puzzles were of the typical variety of inventory and environment interaction (and frequent, often unexpected player character death) found in most Sierra adventures.
Unlike the first game, you are not shown the identity of the murderer at the end. You are given a series of a questions to prove if you had solved the crimes and revealed the secrets of the guests. If you answer the questions incorrectly, the coroner will give you a hint to show you what you could've done to learn the correct answer. The ending of the game can change depending on your answers to the questions, most notably Laura being killed if you don't know the identity of the main murderer.
