The Jesus Lizard
The Jesus Lizard was an alternative rock band formed in 1987 in Chicago, Illinois. The band's name comes from a common name for the basilisk, a type of lizard that can run on water.
After the breakup of Scratch Acid , singer David Yow and bassist David William Sims recruited Duane Denison (guitar). The trio called themselves The Jesus Lizard; the group used a drum machine for their earliest recordings and performances, before adding Mac Macneilly (drums). Macneilly was replaced in 1996 by Jim Kimball.
Until 1994, the Jesus Lizard's studio recordings were recorded and engineered by Steve Albini.
The band split in 1999 after releasing numerous recordings including Goat, Liar, Shot, Blue and Down.
After the split some of the members moved on to other bands.
