Freak the Mighty

Freak the Mighty is a children's novel by Rodman Philbrick. Published in 1993, it was followed by Max the Mighty in 1998. The primary characters are Maxwell Kane and his friend Kevin, nicknamed "Freak".

Also in 1998, it was the basis for the Golden Globe-nominated movie titled just "The Mighty". Elden Henson played Max, and Kieran Culkin played Kevin. A version of the book also titled just "The Mighty" was released in conjunction with the movie.

In 2001, Philbrick wrote one- and two-act plays based on his book. The work has been performed, but has not yet been formally published.
