The Mole or Ze Mole, whose real name is Christophe, is a character first introduced in the movie South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut. He has since had a minor appearance on the television series South Park.

Role in the Movie

The Mole is a mercenary for hire who specializes in digging and navigating tunnels, hence his nickname. He is French and speaks with an accent, although he is fluent in English. According to him, his mother tried to perform an abortion on herself while pregnant with him; however, the veracity of this statement is debatable. All we know of his mother is that she is also French and is to some degree religious. The Mole, in keeping with his French existentialist stereotype, frequently says derogatory things about God, which get him grounded.

The Mole died in the movie, but came back to life at the end when Kenny McCormick wished for everything to go back to the way it was before the war.

Character Design

He is a worldly chain-smoker who seems as though he belongs somewhere in Les Miserables or possibly the French Resistance of World War II. He wears a dark green t-shirt, dark brown pants, and black gloves with no fingers. He also has a shovel and wears a baldric from his left shoulder to his right hip that keeps his shovel in place. He keeps a coil of rope wrapped around his right shoulder. His hair hair is dark brown and messy and his eyebrows are rather bushy compared to those of the other children. He has crow's feet and bags and dark circles under his eyes.

The Mole has had one appearance on the show as seen on TV: a very brief "cameo" as a guest on a talk show seen on a television in episode 308, Two Men Naked in a Hot Tub .
