The Sentinel (TV series)

On for four seasons. re-played on the Sci-Fi channel. In the jungles of Peru, the fight for survival heightened his senses. Now, Detective Jim Ellison is a sentinel in the fight for justice.Lieutenant Detective Jim Ellison (Richard Burgi) A former army soldier, Jim Ellison is the sole survivor of a doomed reconnaissance mission that forced him into 18 months in the Peruvian jungle. He discovers that he is blessed --or damned-- with hyper-vigilant senses. His newfound senses allow him to see, hear, taste, and feel with extraordinary prowess.

Blair Sandburg (Garett Maggart) Sandburg is a keen expert on tribal cultures. He learns of Ellison's extraordinary sensory awareness and soon identifies him as a modern day "sentinel," a mythical tribal figure with hypersensitive abilities. Sandburg relishes the chance to team up with the detective and help him harness the power of his senses...despite the duo's pronounced clash in personalities.

Captain Simon Banks (Bruce A. Young) Since by any reckoning Ellison is one of his force's most imposing lawmen, Banks has no recourse but to accept the detective's erratic behavior once his hyper vigilant senses surface. Persuaded that Ellison's "awareness" is more an asset than a liability, Banks moves to stabilize Ellison's life on the force by enlisting anthropology graduate student Blair Sandburg as a permanent police department observer.
