The Square

The Square is a shopping centre in Tallaght in south-west Dublin. It is located at the junction of the Belgard dual carrigeway (part of the R113) and the N81 road .

It was the first of four large out-of-town shopping complexes built from the late 1980's onwards and was for a while the largest shopping centre in Ireland. Its rivals are Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, and Dundrum Town Centre .

Anchor tenants at the centre are Tesco Ireland, Roches Stores , and Dunnes Stores. A multiplex cinema operated by United Cinemas International is also present, along with several resturaunts (including McDonald's, Burger King, and KFC). A major hotel is adjacient to the site.

Unlike the other centres, the Square is not only a commecial but a civic centre, in that the Office of the Revenue Commissioners also have an office there. In addition, the headquarters of South Dublin County Council are adjacient to the site. The Adelaide and Meath Hospital is also located nearby.
