The Thomson Corporation

There is also Thomson, an electronics manufacturer and media services provider.

The Thomson Corporation is a publishing company founded by Roy Herbert Thomson. The company assumed its current name in 1989 with the merger of Thomson Newspapers and the International Thomson Organization.

Its stock is listed on the New York (since June 2002) and Toronto Stock Exchanges (ticker symbol TOC). Revenue for the 2004 year was $8.1 billion.

With brands such as Brookers, Carswell, CCBN , Course Technology , Derwent World Patent Index , Dialog Corporation , FindLaw , Gale, Gardiner-Caldwell , IHI, Lawbook Co , Peterson's, Sweet & Maxwell, Thomson Financial, TradeWeb , and Westlaw, Thomson employs about 38,000 people in 46 countries and claims 20 million customers in 130 countries.

Its 2002 Annual Report ([1]) won awards in at least three independent competitions.

Its largest market group, Thomson Legal & Regulatory, is based in Eagan, Minnesota. The others are Thomson Learning , Thomson Financial, and Thomson Scientific & Healthcare .
