The Toronto Special

The Toronto Special is a monthly English language newspaper published in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is published as a tabloid and is well known for its muckraking news and entertainment stories.

The Special was first published as an insert in the Glendon College (York University) student paper Pro-Tem. It has since grown into an independent paper published by Can-Open Press with a circulation of 5,000. It is available for free at restaurants and businesses across the city as well as online.

While the coverage of The Special is Toronto, the style and tone is based on a combination of old style tabloids such as Hush and TAB, while marrying the format of the Weekly World News and The Onion.
