The Vandals

This page is about the band. For the Germanic tribe that attacked the Roman Empire, see Vandal.

The Vandals are a hardcore punk rock band originally from California. Despite having never signed to a major record label, the Vandals have managed to maintain a dedicated following for over fifteen years as a result of constant touring and the release of several acclaimed albums.

After a few early personnel changes, the Vandals stabilized as Dave Quackenbush (lead singer), Warren Fitzgerald (guitarist), Joe Escalante (bassist) and Josh Freese (drummer) in the 1980s. Most of their recorded music was released on a variety of independent labels (Triple X , Nitro Records, Epitaph Records and Kung Fu Records) - (Kung Fu Records is a label owned by Joe Escalante and Warren Fitzgerald, and run by Joe Escalante). Of particular note are the critically acclaimed albums The Quickening (1996) and Hitler Bad, Vandals Good (1998).

Personnel

As well as part-owning Kung-Fu records, Warren Fitzgerald also plays electric guitar for Tenacious D both in the studio and when they play as a full band as well as working as an artist and writer.

Joe Escalante runs Kung-Fu records and a small law firm.

Dave Quackenbush owns an alcohol distribution company

Josh Freese is a professional studio drummer and has worked with bands such as Guns N' Roses, DEVO and The Offspring, he is also the permanent drummer with A Perfect Circle.

Discography

The Vandals were a late 1970s punk rock band from South East Essex in England, mainly notable for featuring vocalist Alison Moyet, who later found fame as half of 1980s electro-pop act Yazoo.
