The Wind and the Lion

The Wind and the Lion is a 1975 adventure film. It was directed by John Milius and starred Sean Connery, Candice Bergen and Brian Keith.

This movie bends historic fact into an enjoyable adventure in which an American woman, Eden Pedicaris, (played by Bergen) along with her two children, are kidnapped by Berber brigand el-Raisuli (played by Connery) prompting American President Teddy Roosevelt (played by Keith) to wield the "Big Stick" of American diplomacy to launch an armed invasion/rescue mission.

Although it is a well-written and excellently presented drama, it is full of historical inaccuracies. In particular, the kidnapped were a 64 year-old man and his stepson, who was later found to not be an American citizen.
