The Word

The Word was a 1990s late night Channel 4 television programme in the United Kingdom. Its presenters included Mancunian Terry Christian, Mark Lamarr, Danni Behr , and Katie Puckrick . Celebrated moments include Rod Hull and Emu appearing alongside Snoop Doggy Dogg and neither knowing who the other was; and riot girls Huggy Bear causing chaos. There was also the disgusting 'I'll do anything to be on television' section in which people ate worms, maggots, and did generally repulsive things in order to get featured on the programme.

The Word is also the name of a 1965 song by The Beatles. Though officially a Lennon and McCartney composition, it is in fact one of John Lennon's first attempts at an anthemic political song, although the politics are obscured by references to love rather than any more overtly political messages. It did, however, point toe way to Lennon's later songs espousing the power of love to overcome barriers (such as All You Need Is Love).
