Thergothon
Thergothon was an influental Finnish doom metal band. They started the "funeral doom" subgenre with their demo Fhtagn nagh Yog-Sothoth (1991) and perfected it with CD Stream from the Heavens (1994). Their sound was extremely slow, about 30 BPM or so at slowest and dirges along in 7 minute pieces. Sometimes using keyboards, they created very melancholy soundscapes that many metalheads consider the saddest metal/doom of all.
